get a pet2010-03-10You don't feed the pets in your quest, the first three you train.
Your first real pet - to feed: finish the quest by going to the capitol city (where you are sent by the small town trainer - READ the quest).
In the city, right click a guard, ask for the hunter trainer. YOu'll get a red flag on your map - click M to see it.
That guy finishes your quest.
To feed pet, click on the button - the "dog bone" icon button - then click on appropriate food in your inventory. That's how I do it. Other ways work too, experiment.
One of your new hunter/pet buttons is on the wrong page - it's on the GENERAL or first page - not w/ the other pet/beast stuff.
Go to PETOPIA at ot find out what pets eat.
Boars eat almost anything and are very easy to feed.
I highly recommend that you start with a boar. They get CHARGE, which is very nice. They are easy to feed. They are tough, and they hold agro very well (the target stays on them so you can shoot - that is what you do as a hunter).
If you train a pet that comes w/ no skills (always train it GR...
OMG! OMG! OMG! Look at this!2010-03-09You remember spot, the barking wolf? Well, it seems he isn't the only one with that behavior. Their is a hope for alliance! Prairie Wolf (5-6, Mulgore), also shares this behavior with Spot, very cool.
Some other interesting pets are the Winterspring cats [this does not inclu...
Did they change the way that I have to tame pets?2010-03-08The dismiss and tame is a bug, it will be implemented in some form later but its not finished yet and got into the game on accident.
I think they fixed that bug last patch.
The reason it will be put ingame at some point is to allow people with 3 different pets to still learn new abilities from other beasts.- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person.

Combat Experience (MM talent)2010-03-06MM is a mana burning spec. So the attraction of higher intellect is always there for more mana and with CE & CA talents it can pay off in other areas, otherwise, it's a useless stat to have any bonuses on.
Really you'll see these talents used on Hunter who aren't trying for total max dps but a hybrid with mana pool availability and good dps.
There are people that feel max dps is it. I won't go back over this argument, but people do intentionally take talents off the cookie cutter build for a reason an...
Hunter BM Spec2010-03-05If you don't use aimed shot alot in BG's you really should. It gives a nasty debuff to people you hit with it.
I like hitting them shaman that stand there just healing themselves over and over again. While people pound on them. I put that bad boy on him and its GG.
Druids are also nice targets for this. Palis tend to hate you if you stick it on them right after their bubble goes away.
I can't actually look at your spec but I would go 41/20 so you get the 30 extra damage for crits and rapid killing. Those are enough for m...
A Constant Expose Weakness?2010-03-04Go mainly for agi as this will both increase your crit and your expose weakness debuff.
Agi > crit.
Also you'll never have a 100 uptime of Expose Weakness. However with at least 35 crit (raid buffed of course) your Expose Weakness will be up a lot (I assume > 90 of the time).-Hunter FAQ

How bad are boars after the fix2010-03-01They lost their massive chargegrowl threatspike.
Wich means they are now good soloing pets instead of insane soloing pets.
Carrion Birds are now probably better for soloing, as screech has some decent threat.
(1 screech is i believe 1 6th of an unbuffed growl at lvl 70, and i think my growls with ~2.2k ap are about twice as high as an unbuffed one..... though I'm not sure.)- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person.

Survival Gear/Mechanics Question2010-02-271 Agility = 1 Ranged Attack Power (RAP)
40 Agility = 1 Crit (at level 70)
14 RAP = 1 DPS
22.3 Crit Rating = 1 Crit
Taken directly from my guide in my sig, as well as many other places on this forum (including the sticky).
Personally speaking if you're using the Beast Lord Hanguards to achieve the requirements for your Meta-Socket bonus, then keep them on. If you require the hit to stay capped (while raiding), then keep the Beast Lord as well. As SV, yes we want to be agility junkies, but at the same time your raids have to warrant even using an SV hunter as a DPS role. If you're strictly after agility, then go with the Beast Lord Hanguards, if you want a little extra damage and survivability go with the Demon Stalker.
SV is about adding raid DPS with sustained DPS by yourself. If your raids are typically Physical DPSer's, then your overall DPS will be much greater then that of a BM. Now please BM's don't take this the wrong way, but an SV will add more RAID damage overall, not PERSONAL damage, over you. Again this is under the assumption that you have more physical DPSer's.
For example, in a typical raid boss fight for my guild, we have around 10-12 physical DPSer's. With my agility raid buffed, I have roughly 1224 agility. This puts my EW at roughly 306 add...
